Sometimes there simply isn’t enough time to write a letter by hand, search for envelopes and buy stamps. This is why we want to give you the opportunity to send a letter via email to your sponsored child in Africa.
Here’s how it works:
Compose your email and send it to letters@wvi.org.
The email arrives in our Dublin office where it is printed and sent by post to your sponsored child’s ADP. It is then translated before it is delivered to your sponsored child.

Dos
- Always ensure that your sponsored child’s reference number and name are clearly marked in the subject line of the email.
- If you like you can send one or two photographs as attachments. Please make sure the total size doesn’t exceed 2MB. Please be aware of culture differences in terms of possessions and dress standards. Most non-western cultures would be more conservative than ours.
- Write short emails as it keeps our translation costs down.
Don’ts
- Please do NOT include your postal address on the email. Within very poor communities your address could become a source of unsolicited approaches to you for money, or other requests.
Please note:
- World Vision’s work is unconditional in terms of culture, politics or religion. It is very important for World Vision to be sensitive and respect the religious beliefs of others. We are, therefore, unable to process any letters that may contain inappropriate content in these areas.
- Just as when sending letters to your sponsored child, reply times to emails can be long (up to 6 months) as they need to be posted to our field offices and translated there before the reply is written, translated again and posted back to Ireland.
