"We sponsor a little girl, Lindakuhle Manana in Swaziland, and through the annual updates and reports are delighted to see how our small contribution makes such a big impact on her life and that of her community. Also, with three young daughters of our own, we find the connection very enriching for our family too, as it brings the idea of charity and fairness to life in our home. We are pleased and proud to be associated with Worldvision Ireland and would recommend child sponsorship to anyone who wants to 'make a difference'."

Sponsorship stories

Don’t just take our word for it, have a read about what our supporters have to say about sponsoring a child with World Vision Ireland:

My husband Gerry and myself have been a child sponsor for a number of years now. We sponsor a little girl called Gift from Uganda. It is great to get the yearly updates on how she is doing and what is going on in her community. We get a school report and a photo. We also get letters from Gift and we really look forward to receiving them. The improvement in her writing and little pictures she draws is great to see. We also send Gift letters and small presents for her Birthday and Christmas. This year we are hoping to go to Uganda to Visit Gift and her family. Child Sponsorship is a great way to help improve a child's life for the better. We are very happy with World Vision and the work they continue to do. – Paula and Gerry Russell, Co Kildare

We, the Howth Brownies sponsored a little girl in Kenya for 6 years and since November we sponsor a little 7 year old Tanzanian girl called Nyamizi. We send presents every couple of months like clothes, books, markers, toys etc. and receive a photo of her with the presents and a letter thanking us for them. It is a terrific thing to do as each Brownie gets to know and love Nyamizi. They treasure photos, drawings, letters and reports about her welfare and how the community is doing with the help from World Vision. I would recommend child sponsorship to any family. The satisfaction you get from doing it is something else! – Lua Clare, Howth Brownies

Having made the decision a few years ago to sponsor a child, I was delighted to be introduced to the community in Mutonguni ADP in Kenya where my sponsored child lives. The community there has put in place various projects for things that my family would find hard to go without for a day. Water tanks to hold clean water for drinking, cooking and washing, basic sanitation, improved education for all the community and the planting of fruit trees especially in school yards are some of the many projects the community is working on with World Vision.

Through the regular reports I receive from World Vision Ireland I can see that our sponsored child’s health has improved, and because of that, her grades in school have improved. I would urge everybody who can, to sponsor a child as it is so worthwhile and I hope to be able to continue for many years to come! – Evelyn Cathalin, Dublin

By sponsoring a child through World Vision Ireland I'm able to understand hardship through ongoing communication, realise potential in humanity, and share a common desire to make a difference by a skip into the unknown, a jump into conviction, and by following a leap of faith. - Sean Murphy
