Helen Keogh, Chief Executive of World Vision Ireland announced today that she is running for the Seanad.
Ms Keogh is the current Chair of the Board of Dochas – the umbrella organisation for development agencies in Ireland.
“I’m standing for Seanad Eireann because I believe we need strong voices for economic and social development both here and overseas” says Helen Keogh.
“I am also standing because I believe we need more women in the Oireachtas. Strong women’s voices are needed to ensure real reform in our society.”
The Constitution says a general election for the Seanad must take place not later than 90 days after a dissolution of the Dail.
Helen will be looking for the NUI university vote and is a graduate of UCD.
“I want to use my experience and my passion to make a difference. If this is to be the last Seanad, let’s make it count.”
For the university members, ballot papers will be issued to registered graduates on March 21st and the poll will close on April 27th. The election will be by postal ballot.
