"We sponsor a little girl, Lindakuhle Manana in Swaziland, and through the annual updates and reports are delighted to see how our small contribution makes such a big impact on her life and that of her community. Also, with three young daughters of our own, we find the connection very enriching for our family too, as it brings the idea of charity and fairness to life in our home. We are pleased and proud to be associated with Worldvision Ireland and would recommend child sponsorship to anyone who wants to 'make a difference'."

Child Health Now

Today 24,000 children under five will die of preventable causes such as diarrhoea, malaria and pneumonia.

We're facing a silent emergency, one that's bigger than any natural disaster the world has ever seen.

Join the Child Health Now campaign and help save millions of children.

Why health?

It’s simple; the child health crisis is the biggest child rights violation of our time.

In Uganda, two year old John Mutegeki lies in his mother's arms. His mother and father have just walked eight miles to their closest clinic.

John is diagnosed with extreme dehydration and anaemia as a result of diarrhoea and vomiting. His mother explains that they are not always able to drink clean water.

The nurse gives John simple Oral Rehydration Salts; it is the last pack she has left. John’s parents must now walk miles to the next clinic and use the last of their money to buy more of the medicine that their son so desperately needs. In the west we sometimes forget the true value that something like Oral Rehydration Salts hold. They are cheap (just 10c,) effective and accessible, to us.

In countries like Uganda children are dying because they are still too expensive and just out of reach.

It's unacceptable

Cheap and simple solutions exist that could save millions of lives. What’s missing is the political will by governments to put them into action.

This is why World Vision has launched its new global campaign Child Health Now. By working with communities around the world, raising public awareness and putting pressure on decision makers, our campaign seeks to stop children like John dying from preventable causes.

But we need your help to do this. World leaders need to realise that the public are backing this campaign, show your support to the millions of children and help repair this lack of political will.
