"We sponsor a little girl, Lindakuhle Manana in Swaziland, and through the annual updates and reports are delighted to see how our small contribution makes such a big impact on her life and that of her community. Also, with three young daughters of our own, we find the connection very enriching for our family too, as it brings the idea of charity and fairness to life in our home. We are pleased and proud to be associated with Worldvision Ireland and would recommend child sponsorship to anyone who wants to 'make a difference'."

FAQs – Tax back scheme

My tax rate is personal, will this information remain confidential?

Yes. Your details are confidential to World Vision Ireland and the Revenue Commissioners. The information will not be used for anything other than this tax claim.

How does tax relief work?

Once a year, World Vision Ireland automatically posts a tax relief form to all individual World Vision Ireland donors whose donations qualify for a tax reclaim (over €250 in a tax year). Simply complete the form(s) and return it to World Vision Ireland . You only need to fill out one form for each year, even if you have made several separate donations to World Vision Ireland.

Why did you send me more than one form this year?

We can claim tax back for any year since 2007. If you have received an additional tax form, it means that for that particular year, we can also reclaim the tax. Just as with the form for 2010, you simply need to complete your details, sign and return the form to us - it won't cost you a cent.

What if I am self employed?

If you pay tax partly or fully on a self-assessment basis, simply send your donation receipt with your annual tax return form as proof of payment to the Revenue Commissioners.

If you need World Vision Ireland to re-send a donation receipt, please call us on (01) 498 0800 or email: ireland@wvi.org for assistance. Also see www.revenue.ie for further information on charity tax relief for self-assessed individuals.

Where do I find my PPS number?

You will find this number on your work payslip and quoted on all forms/ correspondence sent to you by the Revenue Commissioners.

I do not pay tax, but my husband/wife does.

Only the person who makes the donation can sign the tax form and the associated tax refund will be based on this person's tax record.

I am a pensioner, am I eligible for charity tax relief?

Pensioners may pay some PAYE tax on their pension. We can claim on this amount.

What if I give to more than one charity?

It does not matter if you have given to other charities as well. World Vision Ireland only reclaims tax on the donations made to World Vision Ireland.

I forgot to send back my form last year, is it too late?

Actually you can send back your form from any years since 2007. If you require additional forms, please contact us and we will send them out to you. Or download a form here.
