Never before have the immediate needs of vulnerable children and their families been so great. Climate change, food shortages and violence have only made things worse for the 103 million people, including 36 million children, who've been forced to flee their homes.

For refugees and forcibly displaced people, the challenges they face are beyond what most of us can imagine. Many are forced to live in overcrowded camps, where conditions are harsh and children are at high risk of violence, neglect and exploitation. Childhoods are lost, along with the hopes and dreams of these vulnerable children, when all they want is safety, stability and friendship.

How World Vision assists refugees

World Vision coordinates activities with national governments and other aid organizations to achieve the best outcomes for people affected by crises. Because we have a continuing presence in nearly 100 countries, we are well-positioned to meet the needs of displaced people, whether they’re in their own country or living as refugees.

Vital supplies and sanitation

World Vision helps South Sudanese refugees in Uganda with emergency food, livelihood training, access to clean water, sanitation and hygiene, as well as educational opportunities.

During 2022, we helped over 29.6 million people in emergencies across 52 countries - that’s over 81,000 people each day.

We respond quickly

We’re one of the first organisations on the ground when an emergency strikes. Within 72 hours of a disaster, we can deliver lifesaving supplies anywhere in the world – often even sooner.

In the wake of a disaster, we stay to help rebuild the lives of children, families, and communities. We also help to build resilience so that if another disaster strikes, they are better able to cope.

All the resources entrusted to us are effectively and efficiently invested in the lives and futures of children. We’re always working to keep our overhead low.

In 2022, we used 89% of our total operating expenses for programmes that benefit children, families, and communities in need, 3% was used for fundraising efforts and 8% for administration expenses.
