  • Location: Dublin City Centre with a possibility of travel throughout Ireland
  • Pay: €420 basic per week, plus opportunities to earn excellent performance related pay
  • Hours: 35 hours per week

Hear from Wayne – World Visions Campaign Leader

Who are you and what do you do?

My name is Wayne and I am the Campaign Leader for World Vision Ireland. I manage the on-street Fundraising Team including recruitment, training and monitoring. I started as an on-street Fundraiser so to now be responsible for and managing an entire team, it’s pretty surreal.

What do you like the most about your job?

Everyday is different. Some days I am training new Fundraisers, booking sites, other days I am travelling with the team to festivals. It is not a normal 9-5 job sitting at a desk which is right up my street. Seeing people improve both professionally and as people is hugely satisfying as well. Being in a position to be able to help people is massive for me.

To be a successful Fundraiser, what skills should someone have?

Be sociable and don’t take yourself too seriously! Standing on-street all day is hard work and Fundraisers deal with a lot of rejection. Along with my Team Leaders, I encourage every Fundraiser to laugh and engage with their fellow team members, who actually become great friends, throughout the day so as to stay motivated and most importantly, enjoy their job.

Are there any specific career goals you would like to achieve while working with World Vision Ireland?

The main goal is to visit an Area Development Programme in Africa which the Irish public and Irish Aid help to support. It would be a truly amazing experience to actually see first-hand the great work being done. World Vision Ireland really encourage staff based in Ireland to travel to the field so I look forward to availing of that opportunity.

Tell us something about yourself that nobody knows?

I think peanut butter and banana sandwiches are great.
