According to the Global Hunger Index, one in three children under five is stunted, meaning they haven’t received the right food for a long time and are too short for their age. Almost one in four children under-five is wasted, meaning they don’t weigh enough for their height.

Meet Sonia, she’s 12 and lives in Burundi, Africa. Her greatest wish is to have a pen and notepad and to go to school. But sadly, Sonia’s never been to school. She spends most of her days trying to earn something to eat – and many days she goes hungry.

Sadly, in many parts of the world, food insecurity and poverty often keep children like 11-year-old Kham out of the classroom. Before World Vision helped his family, he’d often skip school to look for food or to avoid embarrassment caused by his dirty clothes.
