About the article

Climate change is increasingly affecting food and nutrition security, yet nutrition remains a neglected aspect of climate adaptation planning. In this insightful article, researchers from IIED share findings from a joint project with World Vision Ireland, part of the Irish Aid-funded NOURISH programme. Working with communities in Tanzania and the Solomon Islands, the team co-developed nutrition-sensitive climate adaptation plans that centre community voices including children’s perspectives to build resilience and promote equity.

Discover how community-led approaches are shaping inclusive, nutrition-sensitive climate action.

TRIPLE THREAT: Climate change, conflict, and hunger endangering children's lives

More than 3,700 adults from 12 countries in Central America, South Asia, Oceania, Africa and the Middle East participated in quantitative surveys, interviews with key informants and focus group discussions on the ways in which climate hazards, conflict and hunger affect their lives. The survey was first conducted in August 2023, and in September 2024, a slightly modified questionnaire was used for Syria, Afghanistan, and Somalia, adding several questions to measure shock exposure. Using baseline tables, correlation and regression analyses, it was analysed whether community members felt that climate change and the effects of climate hazards actually contributed to an increased likelihood of conflict.

Price Shocks 2025: High Prices Lead to Hunger Pandemic

In response to the global hunger crisis, World Vision has been conducting an annual food price survey since 2021, monitoring both year-on-year fluctuations in food prices, as well as comparing the cost of a standard food basket in terms of hours worked between countries. This report is the fourth iteration of our annual survey and includes data from almost 80 countries where World Vision works.
