Join us at the crossroads of the Great Commandment and the Great Commission

As a global Christian ministry, we help churches like yours to respond to God's call. To get up, get out, and get excited to be the hands and feet of Jesus in the world's toughest places.

We have a range of ministering experiences and church events that will help your congregation look into the big questions of poverty and injustice – and take practical action as part of God's story of restoration. In partnership with your Christian mission ministry, we connect your congregation with children in the world's toughest places.

Your compassion and the love of Jesus will change their lives – and yours.

Our Christian Identity

Faith, hope and love drive everything we do to make change in the world.

Image
faith

A story of faith:

Jesus was known for spending time with those on the fringes of society, always seeing potential for change and transformation where others could not. His example motivates us to live and love at the edges and to find potential for transformation in the toughest situations.

Image
hope

A story of hope:

Jesus presented a radically different view of how life, relationships and society could be. He said he came so that everyone might have a full life. This gives us a glimpse of how things could be and motivates us to work for justice for all.

Image
love

A story of love:

We believe that love has the power to overcome all. The unconditional love Jesus demonstrated for the sick and the hungry, for children and widows, for prostitutes and foreigners, for friend and even for foe, sets the standard we aspire to today. Love drives us to serve all people in need today, regardless of race, gender, age, location, religion or social status.

FAQs

Does World Vision help people of other faiths?

World Vision is a Christian organisation focused on helping the most vulnerable children, in the most difficult places, to overcome poverty and injustice. Because our mission is to help the world's most vulnerable children, we do not make a distinction between faiths. We help based on need, not faith or geography.

We pursue our mission through an integrated, holistic commitment to:

•    Transformational development that is community-based and sustainable, focused especially on the needs of       children
•    Emergency relief that assists people afflicted by conflict or disaster
•    Promotion of justice that seeks to change unjust structures
•    Public awareness that leads to informed understanding, giving, involvement and prayer
•    Witness to Jesus Christ by life, deed, word and sign that encourages people to respond to the Gospel

World Vision believes that all people of faith should be able to worship in peace and security, and calls on all governments to protect their faith communities. We call on people of all faiths to rise above indifference, prejudice and hate. And we pray that, in solidarity, people will come to the aid of all innocent victims of abuse, war, hunger, disaster, terrorism, and disease.

How does World Vision work with local churches around the world?

Every year, World Vision trains more than 100,000 pastors, youth workers, and other Christian faith leaders associated with churches in the world's toughest places. We support church leaders with tools, training and encouragement to minister to the spiritual, emotional and physical needs of children in their communities. We help strengthen local churches and equip them with practical programmes and tools for ministry that nurture children’s faith and improve their lives in the name of Jesus.

Experience the transformation of your congregation through Chosen

Chosen Event

It all starts with a first choice…

Chosen is the beginning of a partnership between your church and a community supported by World Vision. This is more than simply an ask for sponsors; this is the outworking of God’s heart for the poor through your church.

Chosen reminds us that choosing to believe in each other gives us a greater sense of purpose, and helps us experience the fullness of life that Jesus talks about in John 10:10. And it offers the chance — through sponsorship, to empower children in need with real choices, so they can become agents of lasting change.

Churches across the world are experiencing the transformational impact of Chosen. We hope you can too!

The Impact of Chosen in Church

Dave Richards, Minister of St. Paul's & St. George's Church, Edinburgh shares his experience with Chosen and the impact it has had on his congregation.

An overview of Chosen

God is using connections between children in the world's toughest places and their sponsors in Ireland to encourage us, grow our compassion, broaden our worldview, and invite us into a closer walk with Jesus. He created us for relationship! Listen as our Philanthropy & Church Engagement Manager, Sarah Patience, talks about Chosen.

Through Chosen, instead of choosing a child to sponsor, a child chooses you.

When 8-year-old Elizabeth Mueke stood before a wall of photos, she didn’t just see faces—she saw hope. She chose Amanda Azadian to be her sponsor through World Vision’s Chosen program, a powerful reversal that gives children the dignity of choice. Elizabeth’s life in rural Kenya is filled with challenges—long walks for water, limited food, and the daily struggle of her parents to provide.

But through sponsorship, her dreams are growing. With support, she’s thriving in school, aiming to become a doctor, and inspiring her siblings to believe in a better future. “I would tell her that she’s a good person and that I love her and that I pray for her,” Elizabeth says of Amanda.

When a child chooses you, it’s not just a moment—it’s a movement of hope. Be chosen. Change a life—and let it change yours. This invitation reflects the heart of the gospel: that God gave his Son and that he chooses us. Being chosen by a child in need is the start of a transformational relationship where belief travels both ways. Your church's faith in action will help a whole community lift themselves out of poverty, for good.

Launch Sunday at your church

You congregation is invited to be chosen. A World Vision representative shares a sermon and your pastor casts the vision. Photo booths in the church foyer provide a fun, family-friendly experience. Church members who sign up have their photo taken, then we send your photos to your partner community.
