Transparency and accountability
World Vision is committed to being fully accountable to the children and communities we serve, as well as to our donors, supporters and peers in the aid work sector. Find out more about our work though our Publications.
As part of our commitment to accountability, we also seek to adhere to a number of internationally recognised codes, policies and initiatives, including:
• The Code of Conduct for the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement and NGOs in Disaster Relief
• International Aid Transparency Initiative (IATI)
• Core Humanitarian Standards (CHS) Alliance
• International NGO Accountability Charter
International Aid Transparency Initiative (IATI)
The International Aid Transparency Initiative (IATI) is a multi-stakeholder initiative for greater transparency of aid information to increase the effectiveness of aid in reducing poverty. We publish all of our grants and work closely with our wider partnership to publish all of our grants and privately funded programming, making World Vision International the first federation to report against all of our global funding. Visit iatiregistry.org for more information.
Core Humanitarian Standards (CHS)
The Core Humanitarian Standard (CHS) simplifies and integrates previous standards, including the Humanitarian Accountability Partnership Standard (HAP), People in Aid, and the core standard within SPHERE. The aim of CHS is to become the key reference framework for humanitarian standards to support quality and accountability in all programmes. We are in the process of setting up a working group to support the CHS alignment and to roll out CHS within our programmes.
Access to our information
We have an Open Information Disclosure policy enabling members of the public to request information from the organisation. This is normally responded to within 30 days. There will be some occasions where we cannot share information (to protect the safety and confidentiality of our staff, sponsors, partners and those we work to serve), but we will explain the reasons why.
Value for Money
We take our responsibility to be good stewards of the resources that are entrusted to us by the public, the @@@UK government @@@ and other donors and foundations very seriously. To enhance our accountability and ensure we maximise impact with the resources we have available, we apply Value for Money principles.
