URGENT: NEPAL FLOOD
Campaign Message
Children and families stranded after flash flooding in Nepal
A moment to put children's futures at the heart of climate action

In November 2026, world leaders will gather in Antalya, Türkiye, for COP31, the annual UN climate conference. For millions of children around the world, climate change is not a future challenge. It is already shaping their daily lives.

More frequent droughts, floods and extreme weather are making it harder for families to access food and clean water. Children are missing school, facing growing health risks, and experiencing the effects of a changing climate in their homes and communities. Nearly one billion children are living in countries facing some of the highest climate and environmental risks, despite having contributed least to the crisis.

COP31 comes at an important moment. The world has made many commitments to address climate change. Now is the time to turn those commitments into meaningful action for children and the communities they call home. Governments must show how climate policies, investments and decisions will help create a healthier, safer and more resilient future.

For World Vision, children cannot be an afterthought. Every climate decision is a decision about children's futures. COP31 is an opportunity to ensure their voices are heard, their needs are prioritised, and their rights are protected in the actions the world takes today.

Will COP31 Deliver for Children?

COP31 will focus on turning climate commitments into action, supporting communities most affected by climate change, and investing in solutions that help people adapt and thrive. Key discussions will include food security, water, climate finance and children's participation.

For World Vision, one question matters above all:

Will today's decisions create a healthier, safer and more sustainable future for children?

World Vision's Call to Action: Our Future Starts with Children

Every climate decision is a decision about children's futures. At COP31, World Vision is calling on governments, donors, businesses and global leaders to put children at the heart of climate action.

  • Put Children First in Climate Action: Climate policies and plans should reflect the realities children face every day. Governments must recognise the impact climate change has on child hunger, nutrition, health and wellbeing, and ensure children's needs and rights are considered in climate decision-making.
  • Listen to Children and Young People: Children have a right to be heard on decisions that will shape their future. Their experiences, ideas and solutions can help create stronger and more effective climate action at local, national and global levels.
  • Invest in Solutions That Help Children Thrive: Children need access to nutritious food, clean water, education, healthcare and safe environments, even as climate challenges grow. We must expand proven solutions that strengthen communities, restore the environment and help children build brighter futures.
  • Make Climate Finance Work for Children: Climate finance should reach the communities that need it most and support the services children rely on every day. Investments should help children stay healthy, safe and resilient while creating opportunities for future generations.
  • Support Children Affected by Climate Disasters: When disasters disrupt lives and livelihoods, children often experience the greatest impacts. Support must reach communities quickly and fairly, helping children continue learning, stay healthy and recover with dignity and hope.
