A Life-Changing Challenge

World Vision Ireland is inviting you to take on a challenge which will change both your own life and those of some of the world’s most vulnerable children. Join Team WV in the 750km cycle from Paris to Nice. Date to be announced

The Paris2Nice cycle is a great experience for many different reasons – fitness, incredible scenery and meeting new people. It’s also a great way to raise funds for World Vision’s projects, while being out in the fresh air, cycling through the vineyards and having fun.

The event takes place in September(TBA)and is open to all cycling abilities, with groups made up of serious contenders, recent cycling converts and even new bike owners! The fundraising target for each cyclist is €3,000 and we will assist each team member in this challenge.

Sample Itinerary

Day 1:
Paris to Montargis 125km

We cycle out of Paris along a dedicated cycle route cycling through small villages. Our destination is Montargis, nicknamed the “Venice of Gatinais” owing to its 131 bridges.

Day 2:
Montargis to Nevers 145km

We head deeper into the Loire valley where the route takes us via small villages towards Sancerre where we will have lunch. Our destination is the town of Nevers, known for its rich and varied heritage, in particular its palace and cathedral.

Day 3:
Montelimar to Carpentras 90km

An early morning coach will bring us on a transfer avoiding the busy city of Lyon to arrive in Provence at Montelimar, which will be the starting point for day 3 of the cycle. On arrival in Provence there is a short cycle to stretch your legs to Chateau du Monard in Montelimar. After lunch we head for Carpentras. This afternoon’s cycle will take us through the lavender fields of the region via the wonderful village of Grignan with its stunning Renaissance Castle.

Day 4:
Carpentras to Aix-En-Provence 125km/164km

This is the hilliest day as the route heads on a wonderful quiet road over the Col De Murs to bring us to the ochre red coloured town of Rousillon, where Samuel Beckett spent the Second World War. Our destination is Aix-en-Provence - a truly lovely town that has been linked with many great artists. Looming close by is the famous and dominant Mt Ventoux and for some the opportunity exists to tackle this wonderful climb.

Day 5:
Aix-En-Provence to St. Maxime 127km

We cross the Aix region with its wonderful scenery and great association with the artist Paul Cezanne and Mont Sainte-Victoire - a great local landmark. Our destination is St Maxime on the shores of the Riveria. Dinner tonight is not included in the tour package so you have the opportunity of wandering through a myriad of pedestrian streets teeming with wonderful French restaurants.

Day 6:
St. Maxime to Nice 110km

Our cycle starts along the coast before we head inland through the magnificent Cap Esterel overlooking the Mediterranean. Our last few miles will see us make our way along the glamorous resorts of Cannes and Antibes, with wonderful beaches and coastal riding. Then onto the famous Promenade des Anglais and into the wonderful resort of Nice. We will finish on the Promenade des Anglais at around 4pm where you will be greeted by the welcoming team and raise a glass!
