Education around solutions that help with sanitisation, nutrition, and agriculture help families to become self-sufficient. Without such, waterborne diseases and chronic intestinal infections will continue to rob children of their health and potential, and disrupt farmers from tending to their fields.
In many countries, men typically raise livestock and manage farmlands. But now women are challenging traditional gender roles by learning new skills. Empowering women to start businesses can help ensure their families earn enough money to buy and prepare food, as well as supporting their children’s education and futures.
Credit loans are used to create and obtain sustainable provisions for people and also develop nations economically. Without access to credit, people cannot start up industries or projects including farming, or purchase equipment including fuel-efficient stoves which consume less firewood than traditional ones.
Right now, children are facing hunger around the world. There are now 923,000 people living under catastrophic famine-like conditions – a 550% rise on March 2021, while globally hunger increased 25% in 2020, following decades of decline. The situation is worsening in many hunger hotspots around the globe.
That’s why we need to be there – in the places most affected by natural disasters and poverty.
During 2020, we helped over 27 million people in emergencies across 48 countries - that’s 74,000 people each day. World Vision has helped more than 6.5 million children in Turkey, Jordan, Lebanon, and Iraq and Syria. We've reached 200,000 people within Romania, 50,000 within Ukraine and 20,000 inside Moldova.
